Our work in Africa represents an important chapter in the founding story of Surprised by Hope. While our primary focus has shifted to Europe, several programs and resources developed during our 12 years there continue to impact lives today.

A Continuing Story

Our work in East Africa represents an important chapter in the founding story of Surprised by Hope.

For several years, we were deeply engaged in full-time ministry across communities throughout East Africa, focusing on Kingdom business education, Bible literacy, leadership development, discipleship, and other gospel-centered programs. While our primary work has now shifted to Europe, the impact of those years continues.

What began as active, on-the-ground ministry has become an ongoing legacy of relationships, resources, and transformation that still bears fruit today.

Continuing Impact

Although our day-to-day presence in East Africa has changed, the work has not disappeared. Today, the impact continues through:

Kingdom Business facilitators who serve local ministries.
BibleWorks facilitators who deliver seminars in coastal communities.
Sensible Shoes ministers who nurture spiritual growth in children.
Curricula reaching more than a dozen countries and still available today.
Seeds planted throughout East Africa as participants apply what they learned.

We view this not as a closed chapter, but as a living legacy of what God has done and continues to do.

Continuing Resources

These materials were developed in real ministry contexts and are designed to be spiritually integrated, culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and practically beneficial. They continue to serve individuals, churches, and ministries beyond Africa as well.
