About Chaplaincy

Chaplains serve as a stabilizing force during times of crises. We serve at God’s will and under his power. We carry his presence, which releases his authority over all other powers that bind our souls to chaos and confusion. The souls of those we serve remain the constant and sustaining goal of the chaplain. We care for their concerns, we feel their hurt, we desire to be of service, but first and foremost we represent Jesus in their lives. Hurting people become receptive to spiritual care when they feel safe, when they trust, and when their immediate needs are met.

According to legend, St. Martin came upon a poor, shivering man and shared half his military cloak. That night Christ appeared to him in a dream wearing the piece of cloak he had given away. In the 4th century, chaplains were so called because they kept St. Martin’s famous half cape (cappella). This sacred relic gave its name to the simple chapel where it was preserved. To it were added other relics guarded by chaplains (capellani) appointed by the king.

Our founder is an ordained member of The International Fellowship of Chaplains—a Christian chaplain ministry that provides practical community support and spiritual counsel to emergency service workers, those in crisis, secular society by meeting their needs without discrimination. Trained and licensed chaplains provide counsel, education, advocacy, life improvement skills and recovery training, providing a bridge between the secular and spiritual environments of community life throughout the world.

Our founder is American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED certified, which means she is qualified to provide care at home, at school, or in the community by having learned the appropriate steps to provide for first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies for adults, children, and babies. The Hellenic (Greek) Red Cross, a partner in the International Red Cross, participates in emergency response deployment during times of war and times of peace. They recognize the training of international volunteers.

First responder chaplains build relationships with emergency response teams to assist with crisis response services. They also provide chaplain services to other first responders and their families. First responder chaplains are equipped to process crises in a godly, healthy manner and to care for peers experiencing the same trauma.

Community Chaplains build bridges between secular, governmental, corporate, and religious institutions. They are dedicated to the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of the employees, residents, patients, or inmates of the institution wherein they provide ministry. Community chaplains build a spiritual bridge between the local church and the community through concern that evokes compassion and manifests in care.

The great story of the Bible naturally produces an activity of the church that looks like chaplaincy. We reach out to the world around us to show the character of God because he first loved us. We serve at God’s will and under his power to reunite broken people to him.
